Taking the Nissan Motorsports Brand to the Next Level
Having a modern, updated website is essential in today’s world. A Stanford research study discovered that 75% of consumers judge a brand’s credibility on its website design. Today’s consumers expect responsive, visually compelling websites — and they judge brands that don’t meet these expectations.
The Challenge of Taking NISMO’s Brand to the Next Level
To create a visually compelling website, NISMO partnered with Razorfish France, with Storyblok as part of the technology stack. Razorfish France’s objectives for the project were threefold:
- Unify the NISMO ecosystem into a single online platform.
- Modernize the brand experience.
- Modernize the design and technology stack.
Razorfish France used a frontend based on React.js and Next.js to build NISMO’s advanced website. The solution is hosted on Vercel with Sketchfab for 3D rendering and Storyblok as the headless CMS. This combination has multiple advantages:
- Reduced hosting costs: By combining Storyblok and Vercel for hosting, Razorfish France were able to minimize hosting costs and maximize the resources used.
- Visual Editor: Storyblok was the obvious choice because the agency had extensive experience with the solution. Moreover, the CMS’s flexibility as well as the ability to visualize the content in real-time, played a big role in the decision process.
- Reduced development time: Razorfish was able to reduce development time by up to 40%, allowing them to focus on other important aspects of the NISMO project.
Everyone saw the advantages. According to Anthony Labadi, Technical Partner at Razorfish France, “Storyblok played a pivotal role in the success of the NISMO project. Its integration with technologies we typically use at Nissan, such as Next.js and React.js, streamlined our development process, allowing us to avoid unnecessary maintenance costs and efforts.
NISMO’s new site truly reflects the brand’s DNA. Available in English (with a Japanese version planned), the site showcases NISMO’s vehicles (such as the Ariya concept car, GT racing, and FormulaE) as well as the racing championships it participates in (such as SUPER GT and the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship).
NISMO’s team was also very satisfied with the new website and its graphically modern design. Moreover, with Storyblok at the center, as well as Razorfish France’s efforts, they delivered excellent Lighthouse Scores, including 100% on accessibility, SEO, and best practices. As Alexis Domine, Project Director at Razorfish, noted, “The use of Storyblok has greatly facilitated the development and deployment of the site. Thanks to its flexibility and efficiency, we were able to reduce our development time by 30 to 40%. These valuable time savings allowed us to focus our efforts on improving user experience while avoiding the need for heavy plugins and constant updates.”
Razorfish France, Storyblok’s Certified Partner, took NISMO to the next level visually with a more graphically advanced website. The agency used Storyblok as part of the technology stack because of their familiarity with the solution and the fact that with the help of the Content Management System (CMS), they were able to reduce their development time by close to 40%.
NISMO was created by an elite team of engineers who test cars on drivers who have worked, driven, and won at all levels. Their goal is to create road cars like the legendary Gran Turismo Racer (GTR) that allow them to deliver exhilarating excitement for drivers. Thus, their website needed to reflect the exhilaration and excitement that their cars did on the track. Thanks to Razorfish France and Storyblok, NISMO got there.
